Some of you may have noticed a new addition to the site in the form of a paypal donation button.

Fear not, freecast hasn't suddenly become 'paycast', and you will still receive your credits as usual, but there is now the chance to get more!

In short Andrew and i have decided to trial a new idea as a community building exercise. Nothing builds a community like a little friendly competition

The idea is this, at the end of every week, titles will be allocated to users who have participated or contributed to the freecast community in some way. We won't be able to implement all of these titles straight away, and these are in brackets, but the others are up for grabs as of right now.

They are as follows:

(Chat - User who has been in the IRC channel the most)
Currently we don't have a bot in the IRC channel logging the chat, but i'm pretty much there almost all the time. So i could it this way, but it would be less accurate... and might lead to disputes. Up to you guys really.

Donations - User who has donated the most
Pretty self explainitory, this title will go to the user who has donated the most to the paypal account in the week. This is cummulative, so 5 donations of $2 from one user would beat an $8 donation from another.

Forum - Most interesting thread started in the forum
This one could be difficult to judge, there's certainly no way the content of a topic could be measured by scripts, so we're going to have to use our judgement on this title. The wildcard title that could go to anybody !

(Rated - User who has increased their rating the most in the week)
When the user rating system has been written this title will go to the user who has jumped upwards the most on their rating over the week. More info on this one when the rating system is active. 


The prize for each title currently stands at 3 credits. So winning one of these titles will effectively double your credits for the week. We're still undecided if a user can hold more than one title at the same time. We'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

Needless to say, Andrew and i cannot win.

Winners will have their DJ name placed and linked in a box on the main site, much like the 'Forum Posts' box. The credits will be placed in the winners accounts at Monday morning near 00:00GMT. Similarly the cut off point for the week will be Sunday night 23:59GMT.

Suggestions for new titles or feedback to the idea should be put in the forum thread. Hopefully this will get a little more general activity in the forum and the IRC channel. While we appreciate you reporting them, we do like to talk about things other than bugs!
